Play Description

WWI is over, and Myra Bennett has arrived from England on a temporary assignment as the lone nurse to nearly 500km of rural coastline in Newfoundland’s Great Northern Peninsula.  Determined to leave her mark, Myra must brave the culture shock and decide whether she will allow the feisty locals she meets to leave their mark on her as well. Soon, matters of the heart mix with matters of business, and her temporary contract threatens to become anything but! Could Newfoundland be where Myra belongs permanently? And how will she know? Based on a true story, this Canadian gem has wowed audiences around the world with its poetry, emotion and celebration of community and resilience.

A highly theatrical play with grounded and earnest characters, our production will be performed in a beautiful barn venue in Glen Valley, Langley.

Audition Requirements

Sides will be sent to you upon registration. Please be prepared to read sides for your preferred role. Memorization is not required, but familiarity with all sides is encouraged as you may be asked to read more than one side for multiple characters. We are looking for simple, truthful, grounded acting. Come prepared to play!

For auditions, we are not looking for perfect accents; we are looking for a courageous effort and an ability to learn the accent during rehearsals.
